NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University second baseball team defeated Bates yesterday afternoon in an exciting and well-played game by a score of 2 to 1. Greene allowed but three hits and pulled himself out of several difficult places. The team gave him excellent support at critical times.

The second team scored in the second inning when Barta waited for his base, went to second on Usher's out, and scored on Campbell's long single. In the third, Harding was hit, stole second, and scored on Frye's two-bagger. Bates's run was scored in the third on an error, a sacrifice hit, and a single which Barta held too long.
