BEACON CUP REGATTA AT 4.30

Interclass and Carroll Cup Races to be Rowed on Charles Today.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

This afternoon at 4.30 o'clock the annual Beacon Cup Regatta will be rowed on the Charles. Two races will be rowed: the interclass race for the Beacon Cup and the race for single sculls for the Carroll Cup. The latter will be started first, at 4.30 o'clock, and will be held over the mile course downstream from the Longwood bridge to the Harvard bridge.

The interclass race, which will be held immediately afterward, will be rowed over the 1 and 7-8 mile course downstream from the Longwood bridge to Otter street. The winning class crew will receive their numerals and will be sent to the American Henley Regatta at Philadelphia on May 25. If the Freshman crew wins, the upperclass eight which finishes first, will also be awarded class insignia. Furthermore, the crew that finishes second will be allowed to go to Worcester to race the Worcester High School on May 25 also.

For the past two years the Freshman class crews have won the interclass races with comparative ease. This year, however, the upperclass crews have been rowing better than formerly and the race will probably be closer.
