The statement appeared in certain newspapers yesterday that a challenge had been sent to Oxford and Cambridge for a track meet with Harvard and Yale. This so-called "challenge" was merely an informal letter from the managers of the Harvard and Yale track teams to the manager of the Oxford-Cambridge team, requesting his opinion upon the possibility of arranging such a meet. In case a favorable reply is received, it is probable that a challenge will be sent.
