The Freshman baseball team won its second game on Saturday, by defeating Rindge Manual Training School 9 to 2. Everts, who pitched the first six innings for the Freshmen, allowed only four well scattered hits, which resulted in no runs. Curtin, who relieved him, pitched fairly well, but two runs were made off him, partly due to errors.
The first scoring was done in the second inning, when Jordan reached first on an error, went to second on Evert's out, took third on an error which gave Aronson his base, both scoring on Sweeney's timely two-bagger. In the fourth, Delano led off with a two-base hit, took third on Lanigan's single and scored on Crocker's single which placed Lanigan on third, from where he scored on Jordan's fly to centre field. Crocker stole second and advanced to third on an out and was scored by Everts hit.
Rindge scored its only runs in the seventh inning, after Curtin had replaced Everts. Hayes got a hit, was advanced by a base on balls to Raymond and took third on an error by Delano, both he and Raymond scoring on Foster's error. In the last of the seventh four runs were scored for the Freshmen on hits by Ferguson, Beaman, Lanigan, Palmer, and Foster, three of which were two baggers. This ended the scoring.
The summary: Earned runs--1910, 6. Two-base hits--Delano, Ferguson, Foster, Lanigan, Sweeney. Sacrifice hit--Horgan. Stolen bases--Aronson, Beaman, Delano, Lanigan Crocker, Palmer, Everts, Curtin, Hayes, Raymond 4, Skilton, Hugelman. Bases on balls--by Everts, 3; by Curtin, 4; by Weber, 1; by O'Brien, 2. Struck out--by Everts, 5; by Curtin, 3; by Weber 1. Umpire--E.F. Fish 2L. Time--1h. 50m. *Raymond out for interference. Team Will Play Somerville Today. The team will play the third game of its schedule this afternoon at 4 o'clock with Somerville High School on the Freshman diamond on Soldiers Field. The Freshmen won their two first games without much trouble, and their heavy batting should insure them an easy victory over the Somerville nine, which was defeated by the University second team last week. Hicks or Boyer will start the game as pitcher. The batting orders:
