FRESHMAN CREW CANDIDATES

Squad Much Larger Than Last Year.--Hours for Rowing.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The candidates for the Freshman crew were regularly called out yesterday afternoon. Eighty-two oarsmen and twelve coxswains reported, making the squad larger by about thirty men than the first Freshman crew squad last year. There was no work done yesterday except by a few men who rowed on the machines under the direction of Coaches Wray and Stephenson. All the men who desired have been receiving a small amount of special coaching on the machines for several weeks, but the first real work will begin today at 3 o'clock. All the men who reported have been assigned to regular squads. The work of the squads will be the same as last year, with E. Farley '07 in charge, although Wray will do all the coaching. At present the work will consist of daily practice on the machines, but as soon as possible crews will be formed for practice in the tank.

Below is a list of the men who reported yesterday, with the hours of the squads into which they are divided. All the coxswains should come down to the boathouse as often as possible to watch the rowing and listen to the coaching. Any Freshman candidate for the crew who did not report yesterday should report at some time this afternoon. The men assigned to the different squads must be dressed to row punctually at the hours designated, but if any are unable to report at the hour assigned on account of recitations, they should report to Coach Farley whenever possible.
