Fast Hockey Practice Yesterday

Yesterday afternoon the University hockey team defeated the second by a score of 7 goals to 2 in a 50 minute practice game. The play of both the University and second teams was somewhat faster than usual and the forwards had considerable team work, frequently passing the puck with great accuracy.

Carpenter and Willetts, the regular goal and point, were unable to be present and their places on the University team were filled by H. Butt '08 and W. M. Washburn '08, respectively. A. Fraser-Campbell '08 and C. R. Leonard '08 were also played on the University team for a short time. E. C. Cowdin '09, who was out for the first time this season, played for a short while on the second team.

From the start the University team played aggressively, and despite the latter's strong defense the puck was kept near the second team's goal the greater part of the time. The University forwards followed back well, and supported the defense consistently. The second team did not have any degree of team play, the cover-point especially neglecting to pass.

The hockey game scheduled for tomorrow between the University team and the St. Nicholas Skating Club of New York has been cancelled, but some other game will be substituted
