HYDE LECTURES IN FEBRUARY

To Be Delivered by M. Andre Tardieu on "La France et les Alliances."

M. Andre Tardieu, who has been chosen to deliver the Hyde Lectures this year, will give the first of the series on Wednesday, February 5. The general subject will be "La France et les Alliances." M. Tardieu is the foreign editor of the Paris "Temps" and an acknowledged authority on French and international politics. He has held an important office under the French government as Governor of the French colonies in Africa.

The Hyde lectures are maintained by a fund of $30,000 established in 1898 by J. H. Hyde '98. The selection of the lectures is made on his recommendation.

Following is the list of the individual subjects for the lectures, which will be held in Sanders Theatre at 4.30 o'clock:

Wednesday, February 5-La France et 1'alliance russe. Naissance, portee, evolution de 1'alliance franco russe, les idees et les hommes, valeur actuelle de 1'alliance, les idees de M. Tyvoloski.

Friday, February 7-La France et 1'entente anglaise. Edouard VII et la France, le lendemain de Fachoda, le plan Delcasse, M. Paul Cambon et Lord Landsdowne.

Monday, February 10-La France et la Mediterranee. La Mediterranee theatre de 1'action francaise, M. Delcasse et 1'Italie, M. Delcasse et 1'Espagne, le programme marocain.

Wednesday, February 12-Le Conflit des alliances. Le mecontentement allemand, Guillaume II et son entourage, 1'Allemagne et M. Delcasse, 1a crise de 1905.

Friday, February 14-L'espreuve d'Algesiras. Le jeu des diplomaties a 1a conference et au dehors, 1a resistance francaise, le role des chefs d'Etat, 1a diplomatie et la presse.

Monday, February 17-Le bilan des alliances. L'evolution de 1'entente francoanglaise, 1'evolution de 1'alliance francorusse, 1'evolution de 1a triple alliance.

Wednesday, February 19-Les nouvelles ententes europeennes. Les traites de 1'Espagne avec 1'Angleterre et 1a France, 1a Russie et le Japon, 1'Angleterre et 1a Russie, le role de la France dans ces negociations.

Friday, February 21-La France et les Etats-Unis. Les sentiments, les interests, les faits, Pacifique et Mediterranee, le president Roosevelt et la France.

Admission to these lectures will be by tickets for reserved seats, which may be obtained upon application to W. G. Wendell, Claverly 2. A stamped and addressed envelope must accompany requests for tickets.
