The Yale football team defeated Princeton by the score of 12 to 10 last Saturday in a brilliant and exciting game after being completely outplayed in the first half. During this period Princeton scored a touchdown on a 72-yard run by Booth after a blocked onside kick, and a goal from the field by Harlow from the 15-yard line. Three other times Princeton was within scoring distance, but each time the try for a field goal was unsuccessful, while Yale was never inside Princeton's 40-yard line.
The second half, however, was all in Yale's favor, and soon after the kick-off a touchdown was scored and the goal was kicked. After the next kick-off Yale carried the ball straight down the field, but lost a chance to score because of holding after the ball had been actually carried over the line. The second touchdown came a few minutes later, aided by two well-executed forward passes, which were worked from a place kick formation.
The work of Coy and T. Jones in the Yale backfield was above criticism in the second half, while McCormick, Wister and Dillon were Princeton's most effective players. Thirty-four thousand people saw the game.
After the game E. Dillon '09 was elected captain of the Princeton football team for next year. He has played quarterback on the team for three years.
