Dr. E. F. Henderson '88 will deliver the first of a series of eight lectures on "The French Revolution" this afternoon in the Lecture Room of the Fogg Museum at 5 o'clock. The special topic today will be "The Storming of the Bastile," and will be illustrated by about 50 stereopticon slides. These slides have been made from photographs taken by Dr. Henderson of original manuscripts, engravings, and caricatures in the museums and archives of Paris, from paintings in the palace of Versailles, and from original documents in his possession. The material for illustration, some of which has been drawn from a private collection in Boston, is very rare, and has been collected at great expense.
Dr. Henderson graduated from Harvard in 1883, received the degree of A.M. in 1884, Ph.D. from Berlin University in 1890, and L.H.D. from Trinity College, Hartford, in 1903. His main field of study has been German history, on which he has written three important books. He has been engaged on this special subject for five years, three of which he recently spent in France.
The lectures will be open to the public.
