FOOTBALL WITH MAINE TODAY

The University football team will play the University of Maine in the Stadium this afternoon at 3 o'clock. Last year Maine was defeated by the score of 17 to 0, and as there are only three of last year's team playing today, the rest of eleven being made up of freshmen, the University team should have but little difficulty in scoring frequently. Inexperienced as Maine is, however, the team is reported to play a very fast game.

There are three important changes in the line-up, since the Bowdoin game last Wednesday. Burr will play left tackle, where he played in the scrimmage on Thursday, Parker will play left guard and Grant will be tried out at center. Apollonio or Butt will play fullback.

The changes in the left side of the line should make that side exceedingly strong after the men get settled down to their positions. Grant, though light for a center, plays a hard, snappy game and should fill his position well against a light team.

There was no scrimmage yesterday, the practice consisting of stiff breaking through and charging drill under Coach Cutts and of catching punts by Graydon, Gregory, Newhall, Rand and Starr. The ends, Bird, Blumer Forster, Houston, Kennard and Macdonald, were given their first day's practice in tackling the dummy under Coach Leary's instruction. Kennard and Macdonald made some excelleent dive tackles. Burr kicked several goals from placement from the 35-yard line. Newhall and Parker also practiced kicking, Newhall making some excelleent drop goals from the 25-yard line.
