HAVERFORD, PA., Oct. 2, 1907.--In the first round of the twenty-seventh annual tournament of the Intercollegiate Laws Teennis Association here today all the members of the University team came through without a defeat. N. W. Niles '09 had a hard three-set with Spaulding of Yale, which was regarded as the best contest of the day, and makes Niles appear to have a good chance to win the tournament.

The second round of singles will be played tomorrow morning, and the first round of doubles in the afternoon. In the singles matches in the morning N. W. Niles '09 will play Gordon of Princeton, G. P. Gardner '10 will play Bundy of Yale, and A. S. Dabney '09 will play the winner of the Rochester of Pennsylvania and Greer of Cornell match.

The results of matches played by the University team: N. W. Niles '09 defeated Spaulding of Yale, 7-9, 6-1, 6-3; C. C. Pell '08 defeated T. K. Thompson of Williams, 6-3, 6-4; G. P. Gardner '10 defeated Pyne of Princeton, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2; A. S. Dabney '09 defeated S. T. Thompson of Williams, 6-0, 6-0.
