Annual Fall Clothing Collection

The annual fall clothing collection and book collection will be taken up by the Social Service Committee during the week beginning November 4. This collection provides a chance for every man in the University to give his old clothes, magazines, and books to some one who needs them. Men are requested to save these things for the collection. As in former years, a collector will be appointed in each dormitory to take charge of the work, and men will be sent to those outside the dormitories.

Last year a half-ton of clothing, and one and a quarter tons of books and magazines were received. The better clothes were kept at Phillips Brooks House for distribution to such students as needed them. The rest of the clothing was distributed, a case each, to the following institutions: Spring Street Neighborhood House, New York; Cambridge Associated Charities; St. Vincent de Paul Society, South Boston; McAuley Water Street Mission, New York; Morgan Memorial, Boston; St. James' Parish, North Cambridge; Tuskegee Institute, Alabama; Seaman's Friend Society, Boston; Salvation Army, Boston.

The text books received from the collection were added to the Text Book Loan Library at Phillips Brooks House, where they may be obtained for the College year on application. The magazines were sent to the following places: Cambridge Hospital; Holy Ghost Hospital, Cambridge; Newspaper Hospital, Boston; T Wharf Seaman's Reading Room, Boston; New York City Prison; St, Mary's House, East Boston; Morgan Memorial, Boston; East Cambridge Jail; Salvation Army, Boston; Dr. Dixwell's Parish, Boston.
