Yesterday afternoon the candidates for the University crew met in the Newell boathouse and a brief outline of the fall rowing was given out by Captain Richardson. The squad has been divided provisionally into three crews which will row every afternoon, beginning today, from the Newhall boathouse until about the middle of November, the time set for the close of fall rowing. All these crews will row separately and will practice at 3, 3.30, and 4 o'clock, respectively, in the following order:
3 o'clock--Stroke, Reece; 7, Wyman; 6, Lovering; 5, Hanfstaengl; 4, Waid; 3, Vogel; 2, Cable; bow, E. Cutler; cox., King.
3.30 o'clock--Stroke, J. Cutler; 7, Marvin; 6, Hyde; 5, Rackemann; 4, Crandall; 3, Wentworth; 2, Despard; bow, Fahnestock; cox., Adams.
4 o'clock--Stroke, E. C. Bacon; 7, Richardson; 6, Lunt; 5, Severance; 4, G. G. Bacon; 3, Faulkner; 2, Fish; bow, Sargent; cox., Blagden.
Dormitory rowing will be started this afternoon in preparation for the bumping races scheduled to be held on the river above the University boathouse within the next month. Coaches Stephenson and Brown will be in charge of the crews and it is likely that they will be assisted by members of the University squad as was the case last year. All crews will be under close observation and promising material for the University and class crews will be watched for. At the various dormitories last evening the following men were temporarily elected captains of their dormitory crews: Craigie-Waverly crew--W. E. Richards '09; Dunster, Dana, Drayton crew--A. E. Newbold '09; Holyoke street crew--F. J. Baker '09; Hollis, Holworthy, Stoughton crew--W. H. King '08; Randolph-Ridgely crew--D. C. Glover '09; Weld crew--O. K. Fraenkel 1G.
