Time Trial for University Crew

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

RED TOP, June 19, 1906--This morning the University eight rowed over the four-mile course under the watch for the third time this season. The distance was covered in 20m., 10s. This is good time, but the conditions were almost perfect and a strong tide and a favoring wind were of material assistance to the boat. The Freshmen raced the University crew for the last two miles, starting a length behind, and finished three-quarters of a length ahead. The Freshman boat went as well as it has at any time this season. The University four-oar rowed over the two-mile course, but no time was taken. The crew was not well together and Emmons caught a crab near the mile and a half flag.

In the afternoon all the crews had light work, each paddling about three miles. The University boat was very unsteady and was stopped frequently to be coached. The Freshman four-oar was stroked by J. F. Perkins '99, chairman of the Graduate Advisory Rowing Committee, who arrived today to stay until after the races.
