In recognition of the great services which the late Dean Shaler '62 has rendered during the forty years of his connection with the University, the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association has appointed a committee to raise a Shaler Memorial Fund from graduates of the University. The form of the memorial, and the disposition of the principal and income of the fund will be determined by the committee in charge.
A circular has been sent to all graduates of the College and the Lawrence Scientific School requesting contributions to the fund, and asking all who desire to contribute to send their subscriptions as soon as possible to Mr. E. W. Atkinson '81, chairman of the committee. A report of the progress of the work, stating the number of subscriptions received, as well as the total amount subscribed, will be made on Commencement Day. The committee in charge is composed of 56 representatives chosen in part from the class of 1860 and partly from classes from 1866 to 1901 inclusive.
