ATHLETIC COMMITTEE

Election Tonight at 7.--No Change in Organization at Present.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

There will be a meeting at 7 this evening at the Athletic Office of the presidents of the Senior, Junior, Sophomore and Freshman classes, and of representatives of the Boat Club, the Cricket Club, the Athletic Association, and the Football, Baseball, Lacrosse and Tennis Associations to erect the three undergraduate members of the Athletic Committee for next year.

At a meeting of the electors held last Wednesday the following action was taken:

"VOTED: That the following resolutions be adopted and communicated to the Corporation and Board of Overseers:

"RESOLVED, That in the opinion of the electors the number of undergraduate members of the Committee on the Regulation of Athletic Sports should be increased from three to five, one member to be elected by the "H" members of each of the four major teams at the time of the election of captain, and one member to be elected by the captains of the so-called minor teams at a meeting called during the first week in June.

"RESOLVED, That the Corporation and Board of Overseers be respectfully requested to consider such a change in the make-up of the Committee for the Regulation of Athletic Sports."

Pending action of the Corporation and Board of Overseers the election of undergraduate members was deferred.

These resolutions, were communicated to the Corporation and Board of Overseers, and also to President Eliot in the report of the meeting. Inasmuch as a committee appointed jointly by the Corporation and Board of Overseers is at present investigating the whole subject of the regulation of athletics, with the probability that there will be a reorganization of the Athletic Committee possibly before the end of next year, the electors have been called together again, at the request of the President, to elect the three undergraduate members provided for under the present constitution of the Committee. This action has been taken, because it was decided that it would be inexpedient to take up the question of undergraduate representation separately from the whole question of the reorganization of the Athletic Committee.
