Three fundamental changes were made in the line-up of the University baseball team in practice yesterday afternoon. Owing to Stephenson's weak throwing during the past few days, he was tried at right field, and Currier, who played in that position on Saturday, went in as catcher. Simons replaced Hellmann in centre field. Although these changes are not necessarily permanent, they will probably be tried against Brown tomorrow afternoon and against Princeton on Saturday.
Stephenson played a fast game in the outfield on his Freshman nine, but was not altogether at home there yesterday. Toward the end of the practice he improved, however, and made some good catches. Currier was originally a candidate for catcher, and was moved to the outfield later in the year. At Holy Cross, where he substituted for Stephenson, he caught a lively game, but was unsteady in throwing to bases. Yesterday afternoon, under the coaching of W. T. Reid, Jr., '01, he threw with good speed and accuracy. Simons fielded well in his new position.
Dr. Nichols assisted Coach Coburn in the direction of the team yesterday afternoon. The men played a spirited game, Dexter especially making some good running catches in the outfield. The batting was hard and clean, and showed no falling off from Saturday's good record.
