More than 100 men competed in the annual field-day sports held on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon. Although no records were broken the events as a whole were run off in very creditable times. Very little wind was blowing and the track was in excellent condition.
None of the races were especially interesting. The best time was probably made in the half-mile run, which M. B. Van Brunt '08 did in 2 minutes 3 3-5 seconds. R. W. Kelso ran the quarter-mile in 52 2-5 seconds. In the field events the broad jump was by far the best record of the afternoon as L. J. Freedman '08 reached a distance of 21 feet 1 1-2 inches.
