The University baseball nine defeated Trinity in a one-sided and uninteresting game on Saturday afternoon by a score of 13 to 0.

Against so weak an opponent the University team was unable to show its real ability in the field, but in batting the Harvard players were disappointingly weak. None of the many runs were earned, and may be attributed, especially in the second inning, directly to Trinity's careless errors. From the third inning until the end Trinity played without spirit, and by using first one player and then another in the pitcher's box, and aided by the wretched batting of the University team, kept hits well scattered. Errors and bases on balls, however, added to Harvard's score.

Castle, who started as pitcher for the University team, struck out four men, and did not allow a hit until the fifth inning, when he weakened and Badgely, Morgan, and Burwell singled in succession. With the bases full and two out Greene replaced Castle and struck out the first man who faced him. From then until the end Trinity secured but two hits, and struck out eight times.

McCall at second base again played a good game, securing three hits and making no errors. Simons showed more confidence than in the Vermont game, but was decidedly weak at the bat. Burr was steady in his new position at first base, but had little chance to prove his ability in the outfield. Pounds made the first hit for Harvard, but in the next two times at bat struck out twice, and was replaced by Currier. Dexter was unreliable in the field and at bat, and was replaced by Smith in the seventh inning. Stephenson and Leonard played their usual good games in the field, but were surprisingly weak in batting.
