A slight improvement has taken place in Dean Shaler's condition, but while free from the symptoms of pneumonia, he was still critically weak at 1 o'clock this morning. From Friday night he grew steadily worse, losing and regaining consciousness fitfully until yesterday noon, when he once again appeared to be holding his own. The attending physicians feel more confident than at any time since Friday, but can make no statement as to the future.
