During the recess the Freshman baseball squad held practice on Soldiers Field daily. Improvement has been made both at bat and in the field. The work of the pitchers is encouraging, but the catchers are still weak in throwing.
In a practice game on Soldiers Field, Saturday, the Freshman defeated Tufts 1909 by the score of 4 to 3. The principal feature of the game was the pitching of Bush, who struck out 13 men and allowed only three hits. He received very poor support. The Freshmen threw away a number of chances to score by stupid base-running. At bat the men were weak against a comparatively easy pitcher; there was a tendency to step away from the plate and to bat at bad balls.
