Text Book Loan Library to be Started

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Social Service Committee has undertaken to carry out the plan for a collection of college text books to be loaned to members of the University, as suggested by a communication in the CRIMSON some time ago. The first collection of books for this purpose will be made in conection with the spring clothing collection, soon after the April recess, when the committee will collect all books which men may wish to give at that time. In order to secure books which may be in use then, but available at the end of the year, a special book collection will probably be made immediately after the final examinations.

In detail the plan for using the collection has not yet been worked out, but the general idea is to have the books kept in cases to be provided in the Phillips Brooks House and loaned to students who are not able to buy all the books needed in their courses. A small deposit will probably be required, to be refunded when the book is returned. The committee hopes to secure enough books this spring to make a serviceable collection. The library will be made ready during the summer for use at the opening of College next fall.
