The university basketball team defeated Yale on Thursday by the score of 21 to 14. On Friday the team was defeated by Columbia, and Saturday it lost its final game of the season to Cornell. As a result of the ten games played, Princeton ranks fifth in the league.
The baseball schedule, which has been announced, contains a total of thirty-two games, one more than last year. The most important change is the addition of a second game with Harvard. On Commencement Day a game will be played with the University of Pennsylvania. Baseball practice in the cage will begin Monday, when the Freshman candidates are called out.
In a triangular fencing meet with Yale and Columbia, held in Earl Hall, Columbia, last Saturday evening, Columbia won with 17 points, Princeton was second with 9 points, and Yale was third with 1 point.
On Washington's Birthday, the usual exercises were held. R. S. Sidebotham 1907 won the Class of 1876 Prize Debate, and H. S. Breekenridge 1907 won the Oratorical Contest. In the afternoon, the University gymnasium team gave an exhibition. The Sophomore relay team won its annual race from the Freshmen, and was also victorious in all three bouts of the wrestling contest.
On the evening of February 21, the annual Junior Promenade was held, preceded by the Glee Club Concert. Last Monday evening, the New York Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Walter Damrosch, gave an excellent concert in Alexander Hall.
