CREW WORK BEGINS TODAY

For University and Freshman Squads.--Prospects for Year.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

This afternoon the University crew squad will commence rowing at 4 o'clock at the University boathouse. Last year the University crew squad commenced work on February 14 and was on the water for the first time on March 15.

The prospects for a strong crew this year are fair, as C. Lawson '05 and T. G. Mejer '05 who rowed five and seven respectively last year are the only men who are not back, and E. Farley '07 and E. George '03 are the only men from the four oar who are not still in the University. R. V. Arnold '08, F. M. Blagden '09 and M. R. Whitney are the most experienced candidates for coxswain.

Of the crew which rowed against Yale last spring O. D. Filley '06, R. L. Bacon '07, D. A. Newhall '06, P. W. Flint '06, R. M. Tappan '07, and L. Burchard '06 are eligible and W. W. Corlett '06 and A. G. Gill of the four-oar crew will row again. In addition to these C. Morgan '08, H. V. Amberg '08, S. W. Fish '08, S. D. Warren '08, J. Richardson '08, S. A. Fahnestock '08, C. L. Despard '08, C. Wiggins '08, R. F. Guild '06, G. Switzer '06, F. S. Kellogg '06, O. N. Shepard '06, J. Richards '07, F. R. Corbett '07, and F. Goodale '07 have had experience on class crews.

The University squad which will be coached by Wray will consist of the following 30 men: H. V. Amberg '08, R. L. Bacon '07, G. G. Bacon '08, G. G. Ball '08, L. Burchard '06, W. W. Corlett '06, E. R. Corbett '07, C. L. Despard '08, O. D. Filley '06, S. W. Fish '08, P. W. Flint '06, S. A. Fahnestock '08, A. G. Gill '06, G. G. Glass '08, R. F. Guild '06, F. Goodale '07, F. S. Kellogg '07, W. Lilly '07, G. H. Mackay '08, C. Morgan '08, J. M. Montgomery '06, D. A. Newhall '06, F. R. Pleasonton '06, J. Richardson '08, J. Richards '07, O. N. Shepard '06, G. Switzer '06, R. M. Tappan '07, S. D. Warren '08, C. Wiggins '08. These men will row in the tank until the weather permits work on the river when trial eights will be chosen.

The rowing system this season in all particulars will be like that pursued last year. The upper class crews and club class crews will be called out later and there will be no dormitory crews again until next fall. The class races will probably be held on May 19, a week before the University race with Cornell.

The Freshman crew candidates who were rowing before the mid-year period have been re-divided into three squads and will report at the University boat house this afternoon. All men who have not been out previously will report at 3.30. G. Clark 3L. will be in general charge of the Freshmen and Wray will coach.
