The University second basketball team was defeated last night at Lowell by the Lowell Textile School, 24 to 9. The Harvard team played a fast game, but the play was very brought and, owing to the large number of fouls, there was little chance for consistent team work. A mixed system of rules was used, fouls being thrown from the 20-foot line, and the baskets were smaller than those to which the second team has become accustomed. McCarty excelled for Harvard.
The line-up and summary follow: Score--Lowell Textile School, 24; Second team, 9. Goals--McCarty, Walker 6, Church, Carr, Field, Gay, Fouls called on second team, 15; on Lowell, 21.
