The Fellowship of the Cercle Francais de I'Universite Harvard with a stipend of $600, which has been offered by Mr. J. H. Hyde '98 for the last three years, will be held this year by M. Edmond Eggli. M. Eggli, who has been selected by the Minister of Public Instruction in France, arrived recently in Cambridge.
According to the conditions of the fellowship, the young Frenchman is expected to give a certain amount of assistance to the Department of French and other Romance languages. He is also to be admitted to any courses of instruction in the University he is qualified to pursue. M. Eggli will moreover assist in the production of the two Cercle Francais plays.
The incumbent this year of the scholarship offered by the French Ministry of Public Instruction, also with a stipend of $600, is A. F. Whittem, formerly instructor in Romance languages in the University. The appointment to this fellowship is made on the recommendation of the President of Harvard University. The same conditions govern the incumbent of this scholarship as those of the Hyde Fellowship.
