The singles of the fall tournament for the University tennis championship will begin on Jarvis Field this afternoon, and the doubles as soon as the singles are well underway. One hundred and twenty-nine men have entered in the singles, the same number that entered two years ago and thirteen more than last year.
Preference in courts will be given to contestants, and no charge will be made for their use. Balls, however, will not be furnished. In all play previous to the semi-final round, the matches will be for the best two out of three sets, and absolutely no deuce or advantage sets will be played. Matches must be played on the day scheduled, or else defaulted, but in case of rain the matches will be played on the day following. Unless by special agreement, contestants must play at the exact time scheduled, and if either contestant is more than thirty minutes late he will lose the match by default.
Score cards have been placed on the wall of the CRIMSON office and the results of matches must be posted thereon by the winners each day. In case the result of any match is not posted by 6.30 o'clock in the evening both contestants will be considered out of the tournament.
