Forty-three men reported yesterday afternoon for the Freshman crew squad and were put to work on the machines for a twenty-minute period under Coach Wray's supervision. The work this fall will consist chiefly of practice on the machines, but if the mild weather continues one or two boats may later on be sent out on the river. All the Freshmen who have been acting as coxswains in the bumping races will report for the present with the graded crew squad.
The squad has been divided into three groups, which will row every day except Saturday until further notice. These groups are as follows:
Group A, at 3 o'clock--T. G. Aspinwall, A. Cammack, J. R. Chaplin, J. F. Day, H. P. Fowler, A. King, R. B. Lanier, G. Mather, H. N. Platt, J. S. Reed, E. B. Robins, E. A. H. Watson, L. Wulsin, G. G. Zabriskie.
Group B, at 3.30 o'clock--E. E. Bennett, C. A. L. Binger, M. H. Dall, N. S. Davis, B. B. Early, W. Lipmann, R. L. Lyon, C. D. Osborne, S. A. Sargent, S. L. Smith, S. Spring, F. L. Steele.
Group C, at 4 o'clock--H. S. Appleton, W. R. Buxton, I. Davis, G. S. Deming, P. R. Dickson, T. W. Ellis, M. M. Johnston, E. H. Jose, Jr., F. W. Marvin, F. R. Maxwell, H. V. Morgan, G. M. Pinney, J. P. Rice, B. Strong, M. Waide, D. L. Webster.
Any men who cannot report at one of these periods may report at 4.30 o'clock. As the periods are only one half-hour each, promptness is essential.
Only Three Graded Crews on River.
Only three of the graded crews were on the river yesterday--two from the Weld boathouse and one from the Newell. If enough men report today, four crews will be formed at each boathouse and will row regularly at 3.30 o'clock. November 16 has been provisionally named as the date of the races. The development of the crews will largely determine the exact date. Captain Bacon has placed R. H. Wiswall '07 and G. W. Bailey '07 in charge of the graded crew work at the Newell and Weld boat clubs respectively.
