The accompanying table gives the registration in all departments of Harvard University at the close of registration on Monday, October 1, and the figures for the corresponding date last year. The total registration of the University on October 1, not counting the Summer School of 1906 or Radcliffe College, is 3774--a net gain of 18 over last year. Owing to the change in the administration of the Lawrence Scientific School, the figures for the College and the Lawrence Scientific School for the two years cannot well be compared in detail. The establishment of the degree of S.B. in Harvard College has reduced the enrollment of candidates for that degree in the Lawrence Scientific School by more than a half; but this loss is more than compensated by the gain in Harvard College. The total registration in the College and Scientific School is 2404, as against 2371 last year--a gain of 33. The Freshman class of the combined College and Scientific School is this year 632, as against 593 last year--a gain of 39. The new Graduate School of Applied Science begins its career with an enrollment of 25, which, if added to this year's enrollment of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, reveals a gain of 9 over the Graduate School registration of last year. Without the Graduate School of Applied Science the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences shows a loss of 16. The Divinity School shows a gain of 5; the Law School a loss of 31; the Medical School shows a net gain of 7, but the gain in new students is 18. The Dental School shows a loss of 17, but has a gain of 2 in the entering class. The Bussey Institution shows a gain of 12.
