Practice of Class Hockey Squads

All the class hockey squads practiced on one of the Stadium rinks yesterday afternoon. During the first hour the Junior squad, consisting of ten men, practiced with the 20 Freshmen who reported for their class team. In a 35-minute line-up the Juniors defeated the Freshmen by the score of 4 to 1.

The Senior and Sophomore squads, each consisting of 14 men, practiced from 4 to 5 o'clock. After preliminary shooting and goal work the Sophomores were defeated by the Senior team, 4 to 3.

As yesterday was only the third day of practice for the upper-class squads, the work in most cases was crude and ragged. The team play of the Juniors was the most advanced, probably due to the fact that five of the men were on last year's class championship team. The Freshmen have developed a fair offense, but the defensive work is in general weak. The Sophomores have a strong defense, but it is not supported by the forwards. The first game of the interclass series, to be played on Tuesday between the Sophomore and the Freshman teams should be close.
