The University four-oar--crew was yesterday afternoon defeated by a scrub crew in a practice row over a half-mile course. The crews kept very close together until nearly the end of the race, when the scrub crew pulled ahead, winning by about half a length.

University four-oar--Stroke, Shepard; 3, Gill; 2, Kellogg; bow, Corlett; cox., Montgomery.
Scrub four-oar-Stroke, Farley; 3, George; 2, Pleasonton; bow, Henry, cox, Arnold.
