Improvement in University Crews

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Red Top, June 13, 1905.--The work of the crews on the Thames today was very encouraging. This morning the University crew rowed downstream a distance of two miles, returning after a short rest. The four-oar covered similar distance in good time. Both boats spaced excellently between strokes. The men kept their blades well buried in the water, finishing their stroke much better than usual.

In the afternoon the University crew went over the four-mile course unstream in 22 minutes and 23 seconds, which is good time considering the fact that the men rowed against the tide, although slightly aided by a favorable wind. The last two miles were done in faster time than the first two. The four-oar raced the University crew for the last mile, but was defeated by three lengths. The time of the four-oar for the mile was 5 minutes and 59 seconds.
