The University baseball team will play Columbia this afternoon at 4 o'clock on Soldiers Field. Last year no game was played with Columbia, but two years ago, in an interesting game, Harvard won by the score of 4 to 1. Judging from comparative scores today's game should be fairly close, with the chances somewhat in Harvard's favor.
Cornell, whom Harvard defeated by the score of 5 to 1, has defeated Columbia twice this year; on May 6, by the score of 5 to 0, and later in an unusually close and interesting game by the score of 3 to 2. On the other hand, the Columbia nine defeated Pennsylvania early in the season by the score of 2 to 1 and again on May 10 by the decisive score of 10 to 0. Last Thursday Columbia defeated the strong Fordham team, 5 to 4.
The make-up of the University team today will be the same as in the Pennsylvania game, except that McCarty will take Spencer's place in right field, Dexter moving to centre field and Bradbury playing at second base. Castle may pitch part of the game, though Coburn will probably start in.
