At the annual relay carnival of the University of Pennsylvania held last Saturday on Franklin Field, Philadelphia, Michigan won the four-mile, and Yale the mile and two-mile, and Yale the mile and two-mile relay championships. All three races were closely contested. The Michigan team established a new world's record for the four-mile relay race, the time, 18 minutes, 25 3-5 seconds, being 2 3-5 second less than the former record, held by Pennsylvania.
In the field sports and short distance track events, Amsler of Pennsylvania won the 120-yard hurdles; Moffett of Pennsylvania the high jump; Hogenson of Chicago the 100-yard dash; Dray of Yale the pole vault; Thomas of Purdue the hammer throw; Mount Pleasant of Carlisle the broad jump; and Coe, formerly of Oxford, the shot-put.
