The University baseball team defeated Dartmouth Saturday in a close and well played game by the score of 3 to 1.

Throughout, the game was a pitchers' battle between Coburn and Skillen in which Coburn had the better of the contest. He struck out 12 men and allowed only one hit and one base on balls, whereas Skillen allowed four hits, three of which were in the eighth inning, hit a man in the same inning, and gave a base on balls. He struck out 10 men.

At the bat, the University team was unable, until the eighth inning, to solve the pitching of Skillen. In the field, however, the team played a steady and at times brilliant game. Harvard's only error was made by McCarty in the second inning, when he missed a catch and allowed O'Brien, who finally scored Dartmouth's only run, to reach first.

The most sensational plays of the game were two catches of foul flies by McCarty and Stephenson, and the catch by Orcott of a line drive by Schoenfuss.

Dartmouth opened the scoring in the second inning, when with one man out, O'Brien reached first base on McCarty's error, sole second, and scored on Page's hit to left field. Harvard scored no runs until the eighth inning, when, with two men out, Coburn was hit by a pitched ball and scored Harvard's first run on Dexter's three-base hit to right field. Leonard then scored Dexter on a single, stole second, went to third on a passed ball by McCabe, and scored the final run of the game on another passed ball. In the ninth inning the three Dartmouth batters were retired in order.
