In a brush between the University first and second crews over the mile and seven-eighths course yesterday afternoon the first crew won by a length. The conditions were favorable and the time was satisfactory. The orders were again changed, Meier taking the place of Kellogg, and Tappan that of Flint, at 5 and 3, respectively, on the first crew.
During the recess the University crews will row in the morning and afternoon until Friday, when work will be discontinued until Monday, April 24.
The eights rowed yesterday as follows:
First crew--Stroke, Farley; 7, George; 6, Filley; 5, Meier; 4, McLeod; 3, Tappan; 2, Judd; bow, Burchard; cox., Chase.
Second crew--Stroke, Shepard; 7, Corlett; 6, Bacon; 5, Kellogg; 4, Montgomery; 3, Gill; 2, Pleasonton; bow, Flint; cox., Montgomery.
