The annual Harvard-Yale debate will be held this year in Sanders Theatre on Friday, May 5. Harvard yesterday submitted the question, "Resolved, That a commission be given power to fix railroad rates." Yale has the choice of sides.
The trials to select the Harvard team, open to all men in the University, will be held on the evenings of Wednesday, March 29, Saturday, April 1, and Wednesday, April 5, in the New Lecture Hall. At the first trial each man will be allowed to speak five minutes, and from twelve to fifteen men will be retained. At the second trial each man will allowed ten minutes, and six men will be retained. These six men will be divided by lot into two teams, which, at the final trial, will conduct a regular debate with main speeches of twelve minutes, and five-minute rebuttals. The best three debaters at this trial will constitute the team which will meet Yale on May 5. The other three men will form a second team, from which later the alternate will be selected. To the man who does the best work in all three trials will be awarded the second Coolidge prize of $100.
