King Victor Emmanuel II of Italy has created Professor C. E. Norton '46 a grand officer of the Crown of Italy in recognition of his distinguished services as the translator of Dante and as a student of Italian art and history. This is the highest Italian decoration ever conferred on a Harvard graduate.
