Thirty-six candidates for field positions on the Freshman baseball team reported for practice yesterday afternoon in the Cage. The practice, which was under the direction of C. W. Randall '05, T. F. Murphy 1L., and L. P. Pieper 2L., consisted of batting, throwing, catching, and fielding ground balls.
During the past week the practice has been very unsatisfactory. Scarcely any improvement has been shown in fielding. The throwing has been poor, and the judgement in batting very bad. The Freshman battery candidates continue to practice with the University squad.
Three men were dropped at the conclusion of practice yesterday. Two cuts will probably be made next week.
There will be no practice today. Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock drill in running bases and double plays will commence.
