FIRST HOCKEY GAME TODAY

The University hockey team will play its first game of the season with Andover this afternoon at 4 o'clock, provided the ice on some nearby pond is in suitable condition. The strength of the Andover team is uncertain as it has played no outside games this year. Although the University team has only practiced on the ice for five days the game this afternoon should prove an easy one as the forwards are fast skaters and the defence is strong.

The ice in the Stadium rink is in very poor condition and no more practice will be held on it until after the Christmas recess unless the weather becomes decidedly colder. The entire squad, including all men who have been out for the team this year, should report for practice at 3.30 o'clock today at a place to be announced in a bulletin, which will be posted in Leavitt & Peirce's before 2 o'clock.

In the hockey practice, which was held on Spy Pond yesterday afternoon, the first team defeated the second by the score of 5 to 1. Owing to the absence of a rink much time was lost in recovering the puck after long shots. The first team easily scored five goals in a 25-minute period in which the puck was almost continually in the second team's territory. The forwards on each team then changed places and in the last ten minutes of play only one more goal was scored. The first team's defence played hard and effectively, the best work being done by Francis at goal. The teams lined up as follows: FIRST TEAM.  SECOND TEAM.
