Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
The University football team and substitutes will leave this afternoon for Philadelphia to play the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday. A special car will leave the station on Boylston street at 4 o'clock to connect at the Back Bay station with the 4.45 boat train for Fall River. The men will have dinner tonight on the boat, and immediately after breakfast tomorrow will go across to the Cortlandt street ferry, leaving New York for Philadelphia at 9 o'clock by the Pennsylvania railroad. While in Philadelphia they will stay at the Aldine hotel. Tomorrow afternoon the team will have light signal practice on Franklin Field. The men will return to Boston in a special car attached to the Federal express, leaving Philadelphia at 8.55 P.M. Saturday.
This afternoon at 2 o'clock there will be light secret practice for the men who are going to Philadelphia and for the training table squad of the second eleven. The remainder of the second team will practice at 3.30 o'clock.
The following thirty men will be taken: Bartels, Brill, Burr, Carr, Cunniff, Foster, Fultz, Guild, Hall, Hurley, Kersburg, Knowlton, Leonard, Leary, Lincoln, Lockwood, McFadon, Macdonald, Montgomery, Nesmith, Newhall, Nichols, O'Brien, Parker, Peirce, Spear, Squires, Starr, Wendell, White. Head Coach Reid, Dr. Nichols, Dr. Smith, Trainer McMasters, J. F. Ryan, F. A. Goodhue '06, and J. Reynolds, Jr., '07 will go with the team. The second team, accompanied by P. E. Dutcher '08, will leave for the game tomorrow afternoon.
The practice of the University team yesterday was characterized by the same general improvement which has been shown during the past week both on offensive and defensive work. The scrimmage consisted of two 20-minute halves and, although much of this time was given to punting practice, the first eleven was able to score four touchdowns and a safety.
The second team was unable to gain when given the ball within five yards of the first team's goal line. Moreover the offense of the first eleven, which showed such promising improvement in the Carlisle game, gave no signs of any falling off in effectiveness. Guild and Lockwood were both reliable ground-gainers and Hurley, who played during the entire scrimmage, could as usual be counted on for substantial gains. In the long punting practice, to which special attention was given, Leonard, Burr, Hall, Foster and Leary all made some good kicks. Montgomery was out again and was given light work. Starr was not in the scrimmage yesterday, but will be able to play Saturday. McLeod of the second eleven was given a rest on account of an injured hand. Carr was not out and will be unable to play Saturday.
Guild ran the first kickoff from the 5 to the 45-yard line, from where the first eleven rushed the ball straight down the field, Brill making the touchdown. After the next kickoff a long punting practice began, the only feature of which was a 32-yard run by Hurley on one of Brown's punts. The remainder of the first half was devoted to defensive work in which the second eleven was given the ball on the 5-yard line, but after gaining three yards was held for downs. Again the second was given the ball on the 10-yard line, and was thrown back twice.
Mason ran the first kickoff of the second half to his own 10-yard line and on the next rush Heilborn, in attempting an end run, was thrown for a safety by Macdonald. Coach Brown kicked out to Foster, who ran back to the 25-yard line, and was stopped with a hard tackle by Blagden. Lockwood made the touchdown from the 16-yard line, and on the first rush after the next kickoff went outside tackle for another score. Gilder fumbled the kickoff, but Nichols recovered the ball and returned it to the 25-yard line. He punted and after regaining the ball on downs on the 30-yard line, the first eleven quickly carried it over.
