The work of the University debating team, which will support the negative side of the question, "Resolved, That-intercollegiate football in America is a detriment rather than a benefit," against Princeton in Sanders Theatre on December 15, is progressing rapidly. Very much the same method is being followed this year as in former years. Individual conferences have been held, and these will be followed by regular trial debates three times each week. The man on the second team who does the best work in these debates will be chosen alternate. Although public opinion at present is in favor of Princeton's side question, Coach Kelso is confident that the University team will be strong and has a debatable side of the question.
A list of 25 judges for the debate has been submitted to Princeton and has returned in order of preference. The first three men of the choice have been notified but have not yet signified their intentions to serve.
Tickets for the debate will go on sale this morning at the Co-operative, Thurston's the Union, and at Herrick's in Boston. All seats will be reserved at 50 cents each.
The new liquid air machine and motor for running it, purchased out of the laboratory funds, have been placed in the basement of Boylston Hall. A special brick room is being built around the machine and the entire arrangements for its use will be completed soon.
