1908 vs. 1909 in Football Today

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Sophomores will play the Freshmen on Soldiers Field this afternoon in the second game of the interclass football series. The Freshman have an advantage of ten pounds in average weight, per man, but this is offset by the superior team work of the Sophomores, so that the game should be a close one.

Regular practice by the Sophomore squad during the past three weeks has developed a speedy and aggressive eleven. Two games played against outside teams to try out material resulted in victories for the 1908 eleven. The Freshman team is composed of good individual material, but lacks a concentrated offense. The defense also is not very effective.

The line-up will be: SOPHOMORES.  FRESHMEN. Verdi, l.e.  r.e., Kennard Washburn, l.t.  r.t., Comstock, Gilbert Harris, l.g.  r.g., Forchheimer (capt.) Burdett, c.  c., Nourse Tubby, r.g.  l.g., Tappin Rand, r.t.  l.t., Severance Francis, r.e.  l.e., Roosevelt Taylor, q.b. (capt.)  q.b., Simons Knoblauch, l.h.b.  r.h.b., Cutting Haskell, r.h.b.  l.h.b., Graydon Mackay, Clark, f.b.  f.b., Cutler
