Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
Captain Hurley was in the scrimmage yesterday afternoon for the first time since his injury in the opening scrimmage of the season. During this time he has been keeping in good condition and, although he was in the game yesterday only about five minutes, his work was marked by the life and snap which always characterize his play. The other men, who have been out for some time on account of injuries, and were back in the line-up today, were Squires, Hall, and Quigley, who was tried at quarterback on the first eleven. As quarterbacks are needed to fill the temporary vacancy caused by Newhall's injury, Lincoln was also given a trial at that position. Hanley, at fullback on the second eleven, played an excellent game, especially on the defence. Lockwood used good judgment in running on fake kicks, making two long gains on such plays. Carr was not out on account of an injured thigh and may not play Saturday. Hurley and Squires, however, will probably be in the game. Starr was given a rest yesterday.
The scrimmage was directed by Coach Waters, who will have charge of the team for the next two days. It was hard and well fought. The second eleven contested every yard with determination and, although scored on twice, succeeded in making one touchdown. While composed of regular players, the first eleven gave evidence of the team play, which was first shown consistently in the Brown game. Later, however, when most of the positions had been filled by substitutes, the play became extremely raged. The scrimmage consisted of 15 and 20-minute periods.
Lockwood kicked off for the second eleven to Foster, who received the ball on the 5-yard line and returned it 20 yards. The first eleven was penalized for offside play and Burr punted to Timmins, who fumbled, Hall falling on the ball on the 42-yard line. In short rushes, with the exception of a 15-yard gain by Brill, the first eleven went down the field for a touchdown, Squires carrying the ball over. Burr missed the goal, the ball hitting the goal post.
Hall ran the next kickoff back to the 33-yard line. Gilder advanced the ball nine yards on a quarterback run; but, after a 20-yard penalty for holding, Burr was forced to punt. Timmins caught the ball at the centre of the field and returned it 10 yards. On two quarterback runs he lost five and gained 10 yards. Davie lost four yards on a fumble and Lockwood on a fake kick carried the ball to the 16-yard line. Three rushes gave the second team a first down and Brill's offside play added five yards. Davie failed to gain, but Spear was offside and the ball was placed on the 2 1-2 yard line. On the next rush Davie made the touchdown and Timmins kicked the goal.
In the second period Burr's kickoff went over the line and Lockwood punted out to Wendell, who returned the ball to the 45-yard line. The first eleven rushed the ball to the 30-yard line where it was lost on downs. Lockwood made 25-yards on a fake kick; but the first eleven regained the ball on downs, and rushed it to the 18-yard line. Here it went to the second team on a fumble. Hurd tackled Timmins for a 16-yard loss on a quarterback run and Lockwood was forced to punt. The ball went outside on the 22-yard line and, after about 10 rushes, Guild was sent over for the first team's second touchdown.
