The University football team defeated Williams on Saturday afternoon 12 to 0, in a game marred by fumbling and by frequent offside play. The two touchdowns were both made in the first half. In the second half many of the positions on the University team were changed and blunders at critical times prevented any further scoring.

On the whole the linemen covered their ground and worked together, much better than in the scrimmages of the past week. Of the guards McFadon did some good work, but Pierce was somewhat, too aggressive. The ends were rather slow in getting down the field, but O'Brien secured two good tackles, and both Hall and Grant made a creditable showing. As Starr received a slight injury to his ankle on Thursday, Newhall was tried at quarterback and ran the team well.

Brill kicked off to Bates on the 5-yard line, who ran back 20 yards. In five plays Williams advanced the ball to the 40-yard line, where the University eleven held for downs. Hanley and Foster made five yards and Wendell added 10 more. Five plays brought the ball to the 6-yard line and Foster went through left tackle for a touchdown. White kicked the goal.

Brill kicked off, the ball going back of the goal posts. Waters punted from the 15-yard line to Hanley, who received the ball on Williams' 50-yard line and ran it back 18 yards. Wendell made seven yards through right guard and Hanley netted four yards more in two plays. Wendell made three yards through left tackle, Hanley two through centre and Wendell three through right tackle. In this last play Foster received an injury to his head and was replaced by Leonard. Wendell advanced four yards through right guard and 12-yards through right tackle. Hanley and Leonard each gained two yards, and on the third down with one yard to gain Wendell went over for the second touch down. White again kicked the goal.

Brill kicked to the 10-yard line to D. Brown, who ran back 10-yards before he was tackled by O'Brien. A. Brown made 18 yards around Leary's end. Failing to gain, Williams was forced to punt. Newhall fumbled and Elder fell on the ball on Harvard's 35-yard line. Williams made a few short gains and was given five yards for interference with the centre, but in the next three rushes could only again three yards and Harvard was given the ball on her own 20-yard line. After both teams had been penalized 10 yards, Leonard punted from the 24-yard line to Williams' 47-yard line to O'Brien, who ran back eight yards before he was tackled by Squires. Time was called with the ball in the centre of the field.

During the second half neither goal was threatened. Both teams were obliged to punt several times and Williams was penalized 10 yards and Harvard 15 yards for interference, and 10 yards because Quigley in running with the ball failed to go the prescribed five yards to one side. Just before the end of the game Nesmith circled Williams right end for a 22-yard run. Time was called with the ball on Williams' 15-yard line.
