Mr. H. B. Sawyer of Hale House, Boston, will give an informal talk at a conference of the Social Service Committee, open to all members of the University, at 7.30 o'clock this evening in the parlor of Phillips Brooks House. His subject will be "Boys' Clubs and Camps."
Mr. Sawyer has for some time been interested in this aspect of settlement work and has made a special study of the subject. He has organized and equipped several companies of boys for military drill, and has given them practical experience in the field.
The object of the conference tonight is not only to bring together the men who are interested in social work, but also to give them a chance, after the talk, to discuss conditions as they have found them. This is the first time that a meeting of such a nature has been held at the University, and it is hoped that it will attract a large number of men. Refreshments will be served after the principal address.
