Trials to select the Freshman team to debate against Exeter will begin Wednesday evening at the regular meeting of the 1908 debating club. The date and question for the debate have not yet been decided. The team will be chosen on the basis of the work done at four successive regular meetings of the club, at each of which fifteen men will be named from those who have spoken, and will be ranked, each man receiving from one to five points to his credit. At the final trials the question will be that chosen for the Exeter debate, and the six men having the highest total number of points to their credit will form the first and second teams. It will be seen that absence from one trial will not permanently injure a man's chances for the team. The question to be debated at the trial on Wednesday is, "Resolved, That railroad pooling should be legalized under federal supervision." Affirmative, Buckman's camp; negative, Butler's camp.
The team which goes to Exeter will receive the regular class debating caps, and if successful, will be awarded cups.
