The sixteenth annual indoor open handicap meet of the Boston Athletic Association will be held on Saturday evening, February 11, at 7.30 o'clock in Mechanics' Hall, Boston. Entries will close on Monday, January 30. There will be eleven regular events, with entries from a large number of Athletic associations in all parts of the country, including those of Harvard, Yale, University of Pennsylvania, Cornell, Dartmouth, Williams, Brown and Amherst. Harvard will be represented in all the open events.
There will also be a series of relay races, in which Harvard will enter teams against both Yale and Pennsylvania. The race with Yale will be approximately two miles, each man running 780 yards. That with Pennsylvania and also the interclass race will be approximately one mile, each men running 390 yards. The pairing of the other relay teams has not yet been arranged. This year the interclass championship will be determined by one race in which all four teams will compete, instead of as formerly by three heats. In place of the 40-yard dash for novices, which will be omitted, a special event, a New England intercollegiate open team race championship, will be substituted. Four men will constitute a team and each man will run 780 yards.
Following are the events: Special events --invitation 40-yard dash; invitation 2-mile run; New England intercollegiate open team race championship. Novice event--440-yard run. Handicap events--40-yard dash; 600-yard dash; 45-yard high hurdle race; 1000-yard run; 1-mile run; putting 16-pound shot; high jump.
Cups will be given as first, second and third prizes in each regular event. Individual cups will also be given to the members of the winning relay teams.
Tickets, at $1.50 each, in the section assigned for members of the University, will be put on sale about February 1 at Leavitt & Peirce's. The public sale will take place on Monday, February 6 at Wright & Ditson's, Boston.
