Last Row of The Crew Today.

The University crew was given light practice yesterday afternoon in the new shell built by Davy. The chief fault was in the checking of the boat, which has been apparent for some time and which was due largely to the fact that the men started the body movement and leg drive before the oars were well anchored. In the work yesterday the crew was more or less handicapped by the use of the new shell which is not yet properly rigged. The boat itself rode well in rough water and carried the crew well.

A second crew was sent out and will be taken to New London as a substitute crew and as a pacemaker for the University boat. The advantage of taking a second crew will be to give the substitutes regular practice in an eight instead of in pair-oars as formerly.

Only one four-oared crew went out. The men rowed in much better form than on Wednesday, and with consistent practice should make a successful crew.

The last practice will be held this afternoon at 5 o'clock. Tomorrow the squad will leave for New London.
