GALE'S FERRY, June 21.--A few minutes after the first crew paddled out from its float tonight for a six-mile row up stream, the launch "John Harvard" steamed over to the Yale quarters and followed the crew over the entire course, keeping less than fifty yards behind. The men in the shell were told not to exert themselves during the trial, to prevent the Harvard coaches from judging their merits. They rowed an easy stroke of less than 29 throughout, and were accompanied by the freshman crew.
Blagden, stroke on the Four-oar, has a had hand, which will probably prevent him from rowing again this year.
